EASTPOINTE – It’s November 1st, the candy has been handed out, and the pumpkins have been put on display on porches or windows for everyone to see. The fun of trick-or-treating has been had by all. Officially, Halloween is a faded memory until next year. But what do we do with the pumpkins that have been displayed on the porch or window sill for everyone to see? We could just throw them out, but what fun would that be?
Well, the Recreation Authority Roseville & Eastpointe (RARE) had a fun way to dispose of those unwanted jack-o’-lanterns. This family event was called Rumblin’ Tumblin’ Pumpkin Rolldown. This was the 21st year for this event, and it was held at Spindler Park Sledding Hill at 19400 Stephens Road, Eastpointe. The idea for the event is to roll a pumpkin down a hill and hit a target (a circle) located at the bottom of the hill. Whoever got their pumpkins into the circle or even closest to the circle received a gift certificate to be used towards youth programs available at RARE.
After the participants tried their luck with rolling their pumpkins down the hill, there were donuts and cider available for the participants.
